Impression of the Spot (1)

Owen: What a carefree city.

Akira: I- I wonder about that...? This place is basically freezing, so I think living here is pretty tough, though...

Owen: That only applied to humans. And there’s no not-cold place in the North Country, anyway.

Owen: This city is so used to the protection the twins gave them. They probably think that as long as they don't go against the twins, they will survive.

Owen: Well, it’s not like they can live lavishly, but it’s unlikely that malice will breed here. How boring.

Owen: Maybe I’ll just go ahead and tell them that the twins are talking about how maybe it’s time for them to move to another place.

Akira: Oh, no... Owen, please don't do that... Even though maybe, someone finally can find some safety because of this city...

Owen: There's no safe place to live in the North, and the twins aren't as strong as they used to be anyway. The humans here just turned away from this fact and hope for the best.

Owen: Or perhaps, the people in this city don't even know that White is already dead?

Owen: Or they already suspected it, but they can't ascertain the fact. If they ask too many questions and offend the twins, they won't survive after all.

Akira: Owen...

Owen: I wonder what will happen to this city, when they find out that the twins don't have the power to protect them?

Owen: Don’t you think the people in this city will be so shaken when they hear that the twins actually killed each other off? Hehe… How delightful.

Owen: I have to tell them the truth. Don't stop me, Master Sage.

Owen: You always want to know the truth, right? And I'm an honest man. I'm a good boy. Make sure to shower me with praise later, okay?

Akira: No, Owen...! He’s gone...

Akira: Murr, you like shiny things, right? Does that mean you like snow too, since it glitters?

Murr: Nope.

Akira: What?! Really?!

Murr: It's too sparkly so it’s hard to look at! And it’s too cold!

Akira: I see... By the way, what do you think of this city?

Murr: It's a city where culture and science won't develop.

Murr: There are a lot of places like that in the North, but it’s particularly so for the city that Snow and White are protecting.

Akira: What do you mean?

Murr: Because, the twins are all that they need!

Murr: If they ran out of food, beg Lord Snow! If they were freezing to death, beg Lord White! "Please, we're so weak... We beg you, please help us...!"

Murr: If they do that, they’ll get saved. That's why, the city where Snow and White live at is always full of people that don't put any effort.

Murr: Even if they do, it's always to humor the twins, or doing the things that the twins love.

Akira: … I wonder if this means that by always being nice to them won’t do any good for the people of this city...?

Murr: That's probably true, but it's none of Snow and White's business, right?

Murr: Well, I can’t find any appeal in this kind of place. But since it's getting easier and easier for the twins to live here, I guess you can say that it is an easy city to live in?

Akira: Have you ever visited the City of Frost before, Oz?

Oz: Arthur liked this city.

Oz: In the first place, the twins liked to invite people to their place, or to be the invited ones themselves. I visited several times at their request.

Akira: And what do you think of this city, Oz?

Oz: The humans here have a close sense of distance. It's a city that’d make you feel how the twins do like humans.

Akira: Close...? Even if the people in this city respect Snow and White like they're gods, and the two of them are caring about this city on a whim…?

Akira: Even with that, do you still think that they have a close sense of distance?

Oz: Yeah.

Akira: I see... Oz, could it be that actually you’re the type that doesn't want to be bothered by humans at all...?

Oz: If possible.

Akira: Oh... I didn't know that... I'm sorry, I keep making you accompany me many times...

Oz: ...... No...

Oz: I'm not talking about you.

Akira: Still...

Oz: .........

Oz: ... The twins always planted Mercia trees near their residence.

Oz: I remember seeing them nearby the first time they brought me to their residence, back when I first met the twins.

Akira: (Ah, he’s making small talk to shake off the topic…)

Break Time (1)

White: Masteer! Masteeer! Come here, fast! Hurry!

Akira: White! What's the matter? For you to be this flustered...

White: Look, Oz is...

In the direction where White pointed his trembling finger, stand Oz.

Around him are several children of this city. Each of them seems to be doing their best in saying something to Oz.

Akira: He seems pretty troubled that all the children are talking to him at the same time…

White: Hohoho. To think that’s the first thing you'd say after seeing this scene... Indeed, hearing your opinions would always be a refreshing experience.

White: Oz has, voluntarily, looked after the kids of this city. You could say that he just got dragged into this somehow, but he chooses to watch over them without being angry over it.

White: How he has changed... As for me, I was feeling quite antsy myself that he’ll just kill them all at once.

Akira: Was Oz really that frightening? I can see that he's a powerful wizard, but I still can't quite believe it...

White: And it's unbelievable to us that we’d hear something like that from someone that has met Oz.

White: For we do think that no one could ever hope to be as naughty as Oz was in the past. Live long enough, and you’d see a day like this to come...

White: Oh my! But I am not one of the living! Sometimes I just forget about that〜 Hohoho! Hohoho!

Akira: ......

White: Huh? Wasn't that funny?

Akira: Oh... So… That was a joke…

Break time (2)

Mithra: Oh, Master Sage.

Akira: Wah, Mithra! You just came out of that house, didn't you? Are they your acquaintances here?

Mithra: No, we’re strangers.

Akira: Huh…? Then what were you doing there?

Mithra: Nothing in particular. I was feeling rather peckish, so I asked them to give me something to eat.

Akira: But it didn't look like a restaurant... Did they give you something to eat in the end?

Mithra: Yes, they did. I asked them, again and again and again. I did not cross the line though, albeit barely.

Akira: W- What do you mean by that...?

Mithra: I mean pressured them enough, but just not enough that it’d make Snow and White angry and come out.

Mithra: This city sure is nice. The twins are good at raising them, so when I told them my name, they knew who I was right away.

Mithra: I guess they've been taught that it's better to do what you were told to do. If they don’t want to get killed by me, that is.

Akira: No, no, you can't do that… It’s like doing some extortion… Or maybe even straight up robbery…?

Mithra: Hahaha. What do you mean by that?

Mithra: I'll treat you too, so please don't tell the twins about this. Master Sage, is there something you’d like to eat?

Memories of the Spot (1)

Akira: Do you have any unforgettable memories back when you just moved to this city?

White: Hmm, let’s see... A lot happened, but...

White: You see, whenever we changed our residence, we would always set them up in a location where no humans lived nearby, quietly, without telling them about it.

White: Yet not long after, when we realized it humans would come out of nowhere and start living near our house.

White: Then it’d become a village, and then a city. This City of Frost took shape much faster than the other places before, but...

White: Until then, it's customary for Snow and I to enjoy some sweet time alone together, so to speak.

Akira: To be able to relax with and spend some time with your precious family member... How wonderful!

White: Mm-hmm.

White: But, this is a story of when I've already become a ghost. That sweet time between just the two of us… It would seem that it’d be quite hard for that sweet atmosphere between us to last for long, at very least compared to the past.

White: "Even if you said we’re together, the truth is that you’re alone here”...

White: … Without realizing it, that kind of sarcasms kept coming out of my mouth.

Akira: Oh… Oh..... Aaaah…….

White: Not being able to withstand that atmosphere, Snow would then insist on inviting Oz and Figaro to our house.

White: "This reminds me of the olden days!" or so Snow exclaimed. Oz and Figaro's dismayed faces as they sit in front of the dining table that Snow had filled to the brim...

White: Hohoho. Now that is what you’d call an unforgettable memory.

Memories of the Spot (2)

Snow: If I remember correctly, it would seem that the ancestors of the residents of this house were the first inhabitants of this City of Frost.

Akira: This house is a bit bigger compared to the other houses. I guess that kind of person would become a powerful figure here...

Snow: In the first place, it was said that they were someone with enough courage to embark upon a dangerous journey in search of a better life.

Snow: As it may be, their descendants seem to think that their ancestors were the one who had led their people through the harsh lands, and then kept them together after they had settled down here.

Akira: I see...

Snow: I don't remember when this happened for sure, but there was a time where a baby was born in this house, and we gave a knife we had blessed with protection and blessings into it for them.

Snow: It must have been a long, long time ago for you humans, but it would seem that they still treasured it dearly. How heartrending...

Akira: I guess it has become an heirloom in this family!

Akira: You know… If there's a baby, who then grows to the point that they look older than you are now, becomes an adult, and they keep growing old...

Akira: Then they have a child. And that child grows up until they become old again… And then the cycle keeps repeating… How does it feel, to watch that all over again?

Snow: Hmm. How does it feel, was it? Let's see...

Snow: Flower withers, its seed then sprouts, then it grows until a flower blooms from it, and then it withers again...

Snow: I suppose it would be akin to the feeling you have when you watch over that.

Memories of the Spot (3)

Arthur: How nostalgic. I used to visit this city many times in the past.

Arthur: The people here are friendly, and there's a children's playground here. Moreover, there are a lot of interesting things in Lord Snow and Lord White's residence...

Arthur: It was a city full of fun and new things for me as a child.

Akira: Ah, it's true that I feel that for a northern city, the children here seem to live quite carefreely.

Arthur: Lord Snow and Lord White used to say this a lot, that it's children's job to have fun and play.

Arthur: In the past, there was a time when I kept begging Lord Snow and Lord White that I want to visit their residence. And so they took me into this city.

Arthur: We were so absorbed in playing around together, that we all accidentally forgot to notify Lord Oz about this beforehand...

Akira: Wow… Won't Oz feel pretty panicked, then…?

Arthur: Yes, he did. I was just wondering why the weather suddenly became so stormy, and suddenly Lord Oz appeared with such a frightening face. I was really surprised back then.

Akira: (Oz might seem to be a bit too overprotective, but then again, losing a child in this dangerous North Country must be a pretty severe situation…)

Akira: The people in the city must be shocked... What about Snow and White?

Arthur: They said Lord Oz was like a bear.

Akira: A bear?

Arthur: They told me that bears will become very tenacious when their prey is about to be stolen, and that the wizards of the North would have this certain quality in them.

Akira: Now that you mention it, Mithra, Owen and Bradley might be like that, too...

Akira: What about you, Arthur, since you grew up in the North Country?

Arthur: Me? I hadn't put much thought into it, but...

Arthur: Let's see... If my prey is about to be stolen by someone… I think, more or less, I might be the same.
